Unboxed: A New Wineskin
By Ayesha Kreutz

I am not spiritual.
I am not religion’s mask.
Love confounds me.
Peace surrounds me.
I am not vulnerable.
I am not closed off.
I am not open.
I am not black.
I am not white.
Indian?
Everything.
Nothing.
I am not your box.
I am not free.
I am not insecure.
I am not perfect.
I am not enough—
I am not able.
And still, laughter follows me.
I have love.
Life overflows.
Redeemed.
Introvert.
Psychopath.
Sociopath?
Then what am I?
I am woman.
I am mother, wife, friend, foe.
I am aunt, sister—
I am all these things and none.
Tried. True. Scarred. Still here.
An extraordinary machine,
steel heart, wired for empathy,
little feeling,
oceans of love.
A rare design,
a system contained,
where others would unravel.
Ever growing.
Ever becoming.
I am a crooked path,
walking out sanctification.
A unique child of God,
oil ready, lamp lit,
the waiting bride of Christ.
And you?
