John 14:13-14
This verse confused me for a really long time. Many preachers use this in their prosperity gospel teachings (which are bits and pieces of scripture sewn together in a patch quilt of out of context scriptures). The truth is, when we pray we should consider the following; Prayer is a means of communication with God: Believers can approach God through Jesus with their requests.
Prayer should be aligned with God’s will: It’s not about getting whatever one wants, but about seeking God’s purposes.
Prayer should bring glory to God: The ultimate goal is for God to be honored and glorified through answered prayers. Be careful about listening to teachings that don’t pair the perseverance through trials which build character with the blessings and favor of God ![]()

The Lord is a good Father, and He desires to bless his children as any parent would, but not spoil them. What lessons and character do children acquire through being spoiled? Align your prayers with the word of God in context ( meaning read before and after the verse to understand what it’s really saying). There’s something beautiful when our hearts are aligned with our Fathers heart.
