The 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, was passed with 100% support from Republicans in Congress—and only 23% support from Democrats. That’s a sobering fact, often overlooked in today’s political discourse.
When the 14th Amendment came up—declaring that formerly enslaved people were full citizens of the states in which they lived and entitled to the same rights and privileges as any other American—not a single Democrat in either the House or the Senate voted in favor.
Let that sink in.
Frederick Douglass, born into slavery, died a world traveler with the modern-day equivalent of $10 million in savings. He wasn’t just a powerful orator and abolitionist; he was a friend and strategic advisor to President Abraham Lincoln, playing a pivotal role in the fight to end slavery. Douglass later served under four U.S. Presidents—Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, and Benjamin Harrison. Only one President—a Democrat, Grover Cleveland—removed Douglass from public office.
It was the Democrat Party that founded and championed the Ku Klux Klan. Between 1882 and 1964, a total of 4,743 people were lynched—3,446 Black and 1,297 white. These are the real numbers—painful, factual, and historical.
Today, Planned Parenthood—widely supported and defended by Democrats—kills more Black lives in just three days than the KKK did in 86 years. It ends more total lives in two days than the KKK lynched in nearly a century. These aren’t just statistics—they’re lives, disproportionately lost in silence.
In the 19th century, Democrats actively blocked Black children from attending public schools. Fast forward to today, and the same party continues to obstruct educational freedom: 99% of Democrats vote against school-choice legislation, effectively trapping Black families in failing, government-run schools.
Even now, in 2025, the left continues to fight against educational equality, working to keep children locked into broken systems instead of empowering families to choose what’s best for them.
I’ll be the first to say I’m not the biggest fan of everything in the Big Beautiful Bill—including its name—but after decades of effort, conservatives finally created the first national school voucher program through the Trump BBB.
Here’s a quick overview of eligibility:
- Students must be eligible to enroll in a public school,
- Their state must opt in to the program, and
- Their family income must not exceed three times the area’s median income—which, in some areas, could include households earning up to $500,000 per year.
Importantly, students already attending private schools still qualify, as long as they’re eligible for public school—even if they never attend one. And yes, many home-schooled students may also qualify.
Of course, states must opt in, and that’s a major hurdle—especially in Democrat strongholds like New York State, where political leaders are more interested in protecting the system than in empowering families.
And then there’s the welfare system—what was once marketed as a safety net has morphed into a spider web, trapping millions in dependency. It creates a permanent second-class status, a cycle of stagnation and state control. Only the resilient few ever escape. The rest are caught in a boondoggle that masquerades as compassion while robbing people of opportunity, dignity, and freedom.
The point?
Leftist policies have always held down progress and freedom—particularly for those they view as pawns, commodities, or inferior. That legacy didn’t end with the Civil War, Reconstruction, or Jim Crow.
It continues today.
